WOW BILOELA
WOW took place in the Banana Shire to coincide with Biloela 100, a year of events celebrating the centenary of this thriving Central Queensland community. Curated in partnership with the local community, a unique program of performances, conversations, storytelling, and workshops was developed—celebrating the achievements of women and girls in the region while recognizing the ongoing challenges that gender poses as a barrier to achieving life’s goals.
The Festival commenced on Friday evening with a special presentation from Belloo Creative, followed by a full day of activities featuring inspiring conversations about women in business, career and job pathways in the region's changing economies, women’s health in rural communities, ongoing efforts to make women’s lives safer, and the work of women leaders changing the law. It also celebrated women who make our communities stronger and kinder.
There were workshops where attendees learned new skills, including money management, alongside a free marketplace showcasing local, women-led businesses and services. A Healing Space offered opportunities for yoga or impactful conversations about health and wellbeing, and much more! The festival program also featured the beloved WOW speed mentoring, allowing attendees to meet new friends and mentors, create a support network, and share their hopes and aspirations, concluding with a hilarious comedy show featuring the fabulous Mandy Nolan and Ellen Briggs.
